After passing through Esztergom, the Danube flows through a 90 degree turn as it heads south to Budapest. This beautiful stretch of the river is known as the Danube Bend, and features some charming little towns and beautiful scenery. The last of these towns before the river heads to Budapest is Szentendre (St. Andrew) in the Pest region. Szentendre is famous for its artistic and cultural life, with more than 20 galleries and museums, and the town has a very relaxed feel to it. Many famous artists have lived here, and to this day artists are on every street corner offering their work for sale.
