So after all the anticipation today is the first day of our move. When we moved in to our current house we learned that blocking up the road through the village square with a huge removal van is not a way to make new friends. So faced with five days of packing that takes us through to next Thursday we have opted for a shuttle service. A Luton van will load from the house and transport everything to the larger lorry that will, hopefully, be parked somewhere less disruptive to village life. From Monday we will be moving out to a local B&B as the thought of movers, stressed expats, dogs and cat commingling next week doesn’t bear thinking about.
We have been stocking up on all the things that seem to be hard to buy in Slovakia. Dog food, coffee beans, Twinings Tea Bags (of course) and sweeteners. The latter seems to be a problem throughout Europe, as we struggled to find sweeteners in France on a recent holiday, and none of the supermarkets we looked at in Slovakia stocked any at all. Bought a couple of Internet Radio Players to replace Digital Radios (how things move on) in the hope of getting BBC Radio abroad.
All set for day one then …
