Donovaly, Low Tatras

Less than 2 hours from our home in Slovakia is the small town of Donovaly on the edge of the Low Tatras National Park. At 960m it is not particularly high but its situation in a valley between the High Fatras and the Low Tatras creates a cold microclimate. With only 11km of skiing up to an elevation of 1400m this is really a place to come to for just a couple of days, but each night two of the lifts stay open for floodlit skiing until late. It is a family resort, so no late night partying here but there are some decent hotels, a couple of nice restaurants and the excellent Donovalsky Pivovar serving its own beers.
